The new Chamber meets the sector\u2019s demand.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe highlight moment of sustainability and our vision of the importance of creating this discussion forum, a communication channel connecting the Secretariat of Agriculture, the sector and S\u00e3o Paulo state government, were our motivations to recreate this Chamber\u201d, explained agricultural engineer Alberto Amorim, \u00a0Technical Assistance and Sectorial Chambers Coordinator at S\u00e3o Paulo Secretariat of Agriculture.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>He also mentioned as future challenge of this Chamber the continuation of the segment innovative process and economic, social and environmental sustainability. The first session was held on the same day, Tuesday (07\/13). 13\/7). UDOP President Amaury Pekelman will chair the entity with a two-year mandate. Pekelman is also Atvos Group\u2019s Institutional and Governmental Relations, Sustainability and Communications Vice President.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>According to Amorim, the choice of an executive representing the private sector and one of the most traditional and active entities of the sector in Brazil to lead the Sectorial Chamber shows the efforts of the Secretariat of Agriculture current administration to seek open dialogue towards \u201cinnovation and technology. Factors very present in the private sector\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>For Amaury Pekelman, the main challenge will be to identify the sector needs, proposing solutions and improvements in the relation between private sector and government. \u201cWe will use this channel to discuss how our sector can effectively contribute to maintain the quality of life of people in the state that is the largest producer of sugar cane, sugar, ethanol and bioelectricity in Brazil\u201d, he added.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>S\u00e3o Paulo state owns 165 of the 360 plants operating in the country. The state counts on 475 municipalities involved in the growing of sugarcane (over 70% of the total in the state), with 6 million hectares planted in 2020, through the plants and more than 14 thousand sugarcane farmers.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>S\u00e3o Paulo is the leading state in Brazil in sugarcane and its products (ethanol, sugar and electricity from biomass) production. In the 2020\/2021 harvest, it responded for 54% of the volume of sugarcane processed in the country (356.5 million tons), with 26.3 million tons of sugar and 14.4 billion liters of ethanol (63.4% and 44.3% of the national production, respectively).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The sector generated around US$ 6.32 billion in foreign exchange, corresponding to 61% of the value exported by the whole Brazilian sugar-ethanol sector in 2020 and estimates a turnover of R$ 65 billion in the state sugarcane agro-industry.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Source: https:\/\/revistagloborural.globo.com\/Noticias\/Politica\/noticia\/2021\/07\/secretaria-da-agricultura-de-sp-recria-camara-setorial-do-acucar-alcool-e-bioenergia.html<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>UDOP President, Amaury Pekelman, will also chair the entity for two years &nbsp;
