We are one of the largest issuers of Decarbonization Credits, or CBIOs, in Brazil. Learn how it works.
RenovaBio is the National Biofuel Policy, established in 2017 by the Federal Government with the aim of encouraging the production and use of biofuels, such as ethanol, in Brazil, thereby helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere. Today, it is already considered one of the most successful decarbonization initiatives in the world.
The program works by generating CBIOs by biofuel producers, such as Atvos, and the purchase of these securities is made by fuel distributors in transactions carried out on B3, the Brazilian Stock Exchange. It is a measure to offset the amount of greenhouse gases from the sale and use of these products.
Each CBIO is equivalent to one ton of carbon dioxide that is no longer emitted into the atmosphere. This proves that using ethanol and other biofuels helps build a more sustainable planet for future generations.

Our agro-industrial units undergo audits conducted by ANP, the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels, a government regulatory agency responsible for analyzing the entire production cycle of operations, from the field to the use of ethanol by the end consumer.
ANP evaluates criteria such as fertilizer use, fuel use, distribution routes, among other aspects, and based on these analyses, calculates the energy efficiency scores (NEE) of each unit using a tool called RenovaCalc.
The result of this calculator determines the amount of CBIOs we can issue at each unit. The more sustainable the production stages of our operations, the greater the amount of credits we can issue and trade. Today, Atvos can issue more than 4 million CBIOs per harvest, adding up all our agro-industrial units, and they also become revenue for our business.
