Atvos reinforces actions with rural producers

The company currently counts on over 1,500 agricultural partners
On Thursday 28 we celebrate the Farmer’s Day, highly important profession to guarantee the basis for agribusiness and Brazilian economy. In this context, Atvos, second largest ethanol producer in Brazil, highlights the daily support by its agricultural partners and sugarcane producers, responsible for the initial stage in the process of construction of a cleaner and more sustainable future. The company currently counts on around 1,500 partners across the states of Goiás, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul and São Paulo, operating a cane field of around 500 thousand hectares.
Atvos has a program destined to sugarcane producers and tenants called Parceiros Mais Fortes (Stronger Partners), one of the company’s main initiatives to strengthen the relationship with these audiences, aiming at better yield rates in the field. Conceived in 2012, the platform supports these producers in the execution of operations in different areas, from soil preparation, plantation, treatments, harvest, cane field renovation, to crop expansion. “The work of our partners is the base for the strengthening of the whole agricultural chain in the sustainable production of sugar and ethanol”, explains Atvos Agricultural Businesses director Marcelo Annes.
The executive emphasizes that the program’s main actions include: bring yield improvement, encourage good socio-environmental practices, and promote opportunities for diversification and risk reduction to farmers, by means of open and transparent dialogue increasingly supported by technology that shortens distances and optimizes the contact. “The initiative has provided significant advances to all those involved. For Atvos, initially, less than 10% of the sugarcane ground in its 9 agro-industrial units came from suppliers. This reality has changed over the years with the implementation of the Parceiros Mais Fortes program, which, at each crop, receives more investment and, therefore, new challenges to be overcome, like stronger focus on plantation and yield increase”, says Annes.
Parceiros Mais Fortes Program aligns Atvos suppliers and partners to the strategy for optimization of own resources and social and environmental commitments, where all participants must adopt the Commitment with Sustainability in the Sugarcane Chain. Atvos partner for 12 years, supplying raw material for Água Emendada Unit in Perolândia (GO), Alberto Kuchnir says that he is satisfied with his relationship with the company. “We follow the entire history of Atvos in Mineiros and always had a great relationship, with a lot of exchange and business opportunities. I have already worked with other products like soy and corn, but sugarcane is a much more efficient crop for those in agribusiness. Along with Atvos, we are always seeking quality in the cane field, and, with that, the perspectives for the end of this crop are positive”, says the farmer.
Luiz Negri, supplier for eight years of Morro Vermelho Unit, located in Mineiros (GO), also praises the proximity and follow-up offered by the program. “I’m quite satisfied with this partnership with Atvos, because the company supports us from plantation to harvest. The company’s program supports the farmers and keeps us abreast of the entire production process, which means more tranquility”, explains Negri.
